What is ALS?

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS is a rare neurological disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of voluntary muscle movement (chewing, walking, talking, and breathing).

ALS is a rapidly progressive disease with no known cause, and no cure.

Most live about 3 to 5 years after they experience their first signs of the disease, and only 1 in 10 people live with it for more than 10 years. To date, there are only 3 drugs that have been approved by the FDA. There are treatments out there that have been proven to help with the progression of the disease, but unfortunately they are not approved by the FDA.

Research into the causes and treatments for ALS is ongoing.

Every donation made to The Tyler’s Tribe Foundation goes towards finding a cure and supporting ALS patients. Help us #WipeOutALS.
